Expanded Concepts - Part 3
Ask and you shall receive / Ask and it is given
Example from the movie, "The Secret": In the tale we know today about the genie and the magic lamp, the genie grants the person 3 wishes, but if you look back at history, there was no limit to the number of wishes that were granted. This ties in with the quote from the Bible, "Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and the door shall be answered," as well as the concept that the universe is abundant but we simply have a scarcity mentality. Whatever you really want, but don't need, and believe you can have, you will have.
1. Ask, 2. Believe, 3. Receive
"The Secret" covers the 3 steps to manifesting your desires, creating your reality, achieving your goals. First you must ask, but only ask once - this shows you believe and have faith that you will receive what you've asked for. After asking once, you must believe until you are beyond all doubt, that you will receive what it is you want. Once you believe completely, you must be open to receiving it and receive it. The time period that this process takes is only based on your ability to believe - if your belief is truly instantaneous, then you will receive your desire immediately. But if you're having trouble really believing that you can acquire what you've asked for, you won't receive it until you believe it. That's why they recommend starting small becuase they're easier to believe and once you believe in your abilities you can create bigger things.
Intention, Attention, Action
From the Oprah Show on "The Secret" - another variation for 1. Ask, 2. Believe, 3. Receive. This means you first make an intention, or you intend to manifest a particular desire. Then you keep your attention on the goal - on already having this thing you desire. Then you keep taking action toward manifesting your desire until you've acquired it. The action can be a big, obvious action, or it can be a small, symbolic action - anything so that your mind and body know you're serious about wanting and acquiring this thing. Keep your intention, keep your attention, and keep taking whatever actions are necessary and whatever actions you are able to perform until you acquire your desire. James Arthur Ray wanted to go on the Oprah show and discuss these topics, and he had this desire about 6 years ago (around 2001). The actions he took were improving himself and his teachings so that he would be a good guest that people wanted on the Oprah show. As it turned out, the Oprah show called to invite him onto her show - he did not contact them first!
It's not that "If you build it, they will come" but rather, "If you build it, and it provides value, they will come."
This is what James Arthur Ray said on the Oprah show, and it's what Oprah believes as she said something like, 'I don't do this show because I need anymore shoes!' Oprah sees value in what she does, and she enjoys it, and she happens to make a lot of money doing it, but she doesn't do it because of the money. You must find something that you believe ads value to the world in some way - the more value you add, the more money you will make! Look at what Bill Gates did for computers, software, and the internet... he added a lot of value to the world and he got a lot of value back. How many people get rich and stay rich with scams and useless products and services? Not many, if any - you get back what you put out, so if you produce value, you will get value.
